Polaris in Genosha

Magneto sees her crackling like a dark angel.  A part of him proud; another, disappointed; but mostly merely annoyed at the delay.  A simple enough matter -he thinks- to flex a finger, access Lorna's control of the electromagnetic spectrum, and turn it against her.  He begins to do so and realizes that he can't... Polaris is blocking him!  A part of him proud; another, disappointed; but mostly just infuriated that this delay might cost him the world!

The Twelve: Ages of Apocalypse

Apocalypse needed the fabled Twelve to power the Celestial engine that would give him control over reality.  In the twisted future En Sabah Nur created to steal the powers of these mutants, Storm, Iceman, and Sunfire were elementals that represented the forces of nature, while Magneto and Polarity represented the oposite poles of the planet.

Lorna & Logan

After the events of "Magneto: Dark Seduction", Polaris was able to sneak back into Genosha to protect its citizens against the threat Magneto was about to become; during this time, she took hundreds of refugees to Wakanda thus saving countless lives.  When the Master of Magnetism kidnapped Professor Charles Xavier, Cyclops and Wolverine sought Lorna's help to get them in the island and provide them a way to ambush Magnus.  In this scene, Wolverine and Polaris reflect on how much Cyclops has changed after being possessed by Apocalypse.

Too Cute for Words

Eric the Red was introduced in this blog as one of the most influencial villains in Lorna's life, after all, he's the one who gave her the codename Polaris; however, Eric the Red is a name that has a long history that spans many eras in the X-Universe.  If you wish to learn more about the stories behind those who have carried this name, and some interesting theories about the character, check this site by a friend of this blog, "Nathan Adler".

Wild horses and all that

I never understood what this line meant.  Havok is recruiting a team go to to the Moon and attack Apocalypse's forces.  As each member of the squad  was being selected, they would say something.  Psylocke, "good"; Bobby, "I'm there", Sam "appreciate this vote of confidence"; Lorna...

The Age of Apocalypse :: A CGI Story II

Notes by the artist: "Rogue and Lorna were involved in a lot of conflicts, one in particular being fatal to the mistress of magnetism. Here I try to portray one of the fights they might have been involved in. I love the expressions on their faces"

Micro History XII

Yesterday...

The original X-Men -including Lorna Dane- had been captured by Krakoa, the living island.  Professor X sent a rescue team composed of young, unexperienced mutants, among which was Gabriel Summers a.k.a. Vulcan.  But Krakoa proved to be too powerful, too evil for this group and most of them were killed in action.

It was then that Professor X recruited a second rescue team composed of mutants from all over the world.  Ororo Munroe a.k.a. Storm was one of them.  When the all-new, all-different X-Men arrived to Krakoa, they freed the original team, and then Storm and Lorna Dane used their amazing powers to repel the living island off the surface of the Earth.  Unknown to them, young Gabriel Summers was on Krakoa when it got launched into space!

Did you create this?  Let me know and get a shout out!

Polaris Back in Action

After being attacked by Havok, mauled by Sabretooth, and possessed by Shard (all three of them her teammates!), Polaris returned to the pages of X-Factor in issue #148.  Of course, this was a short-lived return, as the series was cancelled one month later.  Next, we would see Lorna in the pages of X-Men as a member of The Twelve.

Polaris Trading Card

Polaris's powerful attraction is more than her beauty! It could be the pull of her mutant magnetic abilities - or maybe the appeal of a woman dedicated to the fight for justice!  Can fly, create force fields, generate energy blasts and move objects made of metal.

Notes by the artist: "I always felt Lorna's theme song should be "I've Got the Power" from Snap -I think- so here's a good title for this piece. Even in the AoA universe Lorna still has her power."
